Dye Penetrant Testing Chemicals
For Non-Destructive Testing
Scope : Dye Penetrant PM-10, Developer PM - 24 and Cleaner PM - 30 are used for Non Destructive Testing, for the process of Crack detection in Fabricated MS & SS equipments and machinery. Our products are tested and approved by the National Test House & are certified as confirming to the requirements of IS 3658-1981 &ASTM E 165 - 80 specns & are supplied in 400 ml self spray aerosol cans.
Red Dye Penetrant PM 10 has excellent colour fastness, very high capillary action ( penetrating power ), and will enter into the minutest pore/ crack / pinhole of surface discontinuity. Red dye is adsorbed ib the crack / surface defect and remains till blotted by the spray of Developer. Developer PM 24 contains a very fine (nearly 700 mesh) powder, has excellent blotting action, and dries fast. The spray of Developer lifts the Dye from the surface defect and is indicated as a red marking, taking the shape of the surface defects. Cleaner PM - 30 is a high power solvent used for cleaning of the
excess dye penetrant from the substrate.
Sequence of Dye Penetrant Testing Process :
- Completely Clean the test area by spray of Cleaner PM 30 / wiping with a cloth
- soaked in Cleaner PM 30. Remove oil, grease, dirt & dust from test area.
- Apply Red Dye Penetrant PM - 10 by Spray or Brush. Allow a to stand for dwell
- period ( penetration time of 10 to 15 minutes )for the dye to penetrate in cracks.
- Clean excess Dye from the test area by wiping with a cloth soaked in Cleaner.
- Spray Developer PM-24 , uniformly, from a distance of 6 -8 inches from test area.
- Do not spray too close /over-spray. This may give wrong results.
- Observe the Test Area for development of red marks on cracks / surface defects.
